Inside the Versailles Hall of Mirrors, the Peace Treaty is signed in the same room where the German Empire was proclaimed in 1871. Statesmen, diplomats and army officers sign the Treaty at a desk in the centre, before emerging into the Palace's famous gardens to be greeted by an excited crowd.
