Designed to accompany the Civil Defence handbook, each film in the series Advice to Householders explains a different aspect of nuclear warfare and what procedures to take in order to survive and minimise the effects of the blast and fall-out radiation.

The titles are: Nuclear Explosions - The Basic Facts, Protective Measures, Emergency Equipment and Supplies, Preparing the House, What to do Immediately After an Attack and Life Under Fall-Out Conditions - see the attached synopsis for further details.

After 1970, references to the 'Grey Warning' were excised from some copies, presumably because it had been discontinued. A more comprehensive update was made in 1980 as Protect and Survive, presenting essentially the same information but using colour and more up-to-date presentation techniques.
