Accidents and Emergency Department, Admissions Unit, present day. Amir is occupied in a tense telephone conversation with his partner Judith. At the same time Sat is on the telephone admitting a new patient. The stress and tension of the busy unit intensifies, until Amir persuades Sat to take a break. Sat confides her problems to Amir and they dance. Amir tries to talk about his depression, but Sat's beeper interrupts the conversation.

Amir phones Sat while she is in the middle of treating a patient, and she terminates the conversation. Later, however, she discovers that Amir, admitted as a patient to the Unit has died from self-inflicted injuries.
