Celebrating black creativity in the moving image

Black World

Black World 2005 is a six-month national programme of seasons, events, workshops and critical debates to engage a diverse range of British communities, specifically targeting young people.

Beginning in June 2005, it will celebrate as well as critically evaluate black cinema in Britain from production through to distribution and preservation. Black World hopes to launch a national commitment to promote and sustain this film culture.

Throughout Black World, BFI Screenonline will be highlighting black creativity in British film and television, looking at the careers of black performers, filmmakers and writers, and at the treatment of black issues and themes on the big and small screens. Listed below are relevant collections, films, television programmes and personalities currently featured on BFI Screenonline. This list will be regularly updated as new content is added.
