Series 1, Episode 5, originally transmitted 13/4/1983

Shirley, Linda, Bella and Dolly prepare separately for the robbery. Bella visits Dolly in the lockup to let her know that everything is in place for the morning. The four women spend a sleepless night waiting for daybreak. Next morning, Shirley, Bella and Linda arrive at the lockup to collect one of the vans, while Dolly, with some difficulty, starts the cleaning van. They leave separately to intercept the security van.

Bella, Linda and Shirley pursue the security van, while Dolly gets in front in the cleaning truck. All three vehicles head into the underpass, until Dolly slams on the brakes and causes the security van to crash. The others (with gas masks covering their faces) cut open the van and take the money before discarding their disguises and escaping. Dolly goes in the opposite direction and takes the tube. After depositing the money in the boot of Dolly's car, the women attempt to go their separate ways, but Shirley has a problem with her ankle, and so is looked after by Dolly.

Eddie, one of Harry's cohorts, is watching Dolly's house as she and Shirley arrive. Suddenly the police arrive and take Dolly away, but Shirley hides in the garage. Eddie enters the house, only to be surprised by Shirley, who throws scalding coffee in his face, forcing him to flee. During the struggle, Heidi, Dolly's poodle, is accidentally killed.

The police want Dolly to identify the security heist gang, but they let her go when she fails to do so. Meanwhile Eddie tells Harry about the fight with Shirley, and Harry calls up for reinforcements. Dolly returns from the police station, and takes a call from Bella and Linda confirming they are OK, but is shattered when Shirley tells her about Heidi's death. Dolly asks Shirley to bury Heidi while she goes out to get the plane tickets for their getaway, and while she is out hides the bulk of the money in the lockers at the convent school, which are subsequently pasted over with children's paintings. DI Resnick hears about the heist and, after arguing with his wife, decides to find out what's going on.

A member of Harry's gang keeps watch outside Dolly's house, but DI Resnick is also watching. Dolly and Shirley have some hot milk and tranquillisers before retiring to bed. Shirley spots Eddie in a photograph in Dolly's room.
