In August 1922 Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, welcomes a celebrity. Lady Lauder arrives to judge the finals of the Daily Mail's World sand modelling contest. Her visit was filmed for the town's Palace cinema. The cinema's manager, Jimmy Gillespie, makes a cameo appearance, and many of the town's locals are lined up along the beach, anticipating being captured on film.
