Show full synopsis

I'm Not a Feminist, But... (d. Marjut Rimminen, 1986) is an animated interpretation of drawings from a book of the same name by illustrator Christine Roche (Roche and Rimminen were later to collaborate on The Stain (1991)). This film may now seem a little dated, but it is an interesting snapshot of the womens' movement at that time.

The structure is quite loose, with slightly connected sketches or vignettes, sometimes linked with a song. A strong drawing style enhances the feeling of the film - it is like the original, a book of cartoons. They are mostly not laugh-out-loud funny, but Rimminen gives the film an entertaining pace and a lightness of touch.
