"KING'S MAUNDY MONEY. The Medieval custom of distributing the King's Bounty at Westminster Abbey. Fifty two persons of each sex participate, corresponding with the King's age. Notes being substituted for gold for the first time." Yeomen of the Guard file into Westminster Abbey. Participants exit the Abbey after the ceremony; one man is on crutches. Recipients display their bags of coins for the camera.
