Synopsis

Warning: screenonline full synopses contain 'spoilers' which give away key plot points. Don't read on if you don't want to know the ending!

"SPECIAL MATINEE FOR THE WOUNDED Chung Ling Soo receives wounded soldiers from the hospital, and afterwards gives them a special performance at the Palladium." Medium long shot of a queue of soldiers filing into the main entrance of the Palladium Theatre, London. Some are on crutches and a number have walking sticks. Medium long shot of wounded soldiers with crutches being helped out of a car by theatre commissionaires. Medium long shot of wounded soldiers alighting from a different car to that in the previous shot and being greeted by two women in waitress uniforms. The waitresses are holding trays bearing small gift boxes (possibly cigarettes?) which are handed to the soldiers. Medium shot of an Asian gentleman with pig tail (presumably Chung Ling Soo) shaking the hand of a soldier with crutches as he is about to alight from a car. A woman standing behind the Asian gentleman is offering the same gift packages as in the previous shot.

Notes: All shots were taken outside the main entrance to the Palladium Theatre on Argyll Street. Dickins and Jones department store, which is opposite the theatre's main entrance, can be seen in some shots.
