Show full synopsis

How an issue of the magazine 'Illustrated' is put together. The film shows the editor briefing his photographers, then follows them to their assignments: an aircraft factory; a fighter station; a Home Guard unit; Civil Defence fire fighting; and a bomber base. Also briefer coverage of mechanised army units; women being trained to use stirrup pumps; a convoy; and air-raid shelter 'fashions'. The film follows the production of the magazine through censorship to eventual publication.
