A pair of scissors cuts out a woman which comes to life and dances.

Show full synopsis

In this trick film from early animator W.R. Booth, a pair of animated scissors cuts the shape of a woman from paper; the cutout then slowly develops into a print/photograph of a woman, who comes to life. Different scenes and scenarios are painted and the woman performs a variety of dances. Finally she appears as a statue. It revolves slowly until a hand with a hammer appears and smashes it. The pieces come to life and rejoin themselves and the woman bows. This is a rare surviving example of a stencil-coloured film produced by a British company.
