British Railways operate many thousands of road vehicles. Keeping them trouble-free and accident-free depends to a large extent upon the way they are handled by their drivers.

Show full synopsis

After diagrammatic illustrations showing the routine checks to be made before starting off, the film shows typical delivery routes being covered by a lorry and a 'mechanical horse' and trailer (filmed in the Watford area), and some of the many circumstances in which care, common sense, and alertness on the part of the driver can prevent accidents. A good example of a type of industrial training film that changed little in style right up until the 1990s.
