A man performs his daily grooming ritual.

Show full synopsis

Like G.A. Smith's earlier Old Man Drinking a Glass of Beer (1898), A Quick Shave and Brush-Up is a vehicle for the Brighton comedian Tom Green, whose various grimaces when shaving and grooming himself constitute the entertainment.

It's also a record of a time when cut-throat razors were a standard part of a gentleman's toiletry kit. Possibly not coincidentally, it was also a time when facial hair was extremely fashionable.
