A super-shampoo shop and beauty-parlour for dogs is opened in London.

Show full synopsis

Proof that absurdly pampered pets aren't a recent Californian invention, this light-hearted Topical Budget item presents the opening of a London salon for dogs from the point of view of one of its canine customers, a deeply reluctant Jack Russell terrier who'd clearly be far happier letting nature take its course.

Two hair-netted employees do the actual work of shampooing, manicuring and teeth-filing, while the dog's owner, dressed to the nines in a fur-lined coat, delivers what appears to be meticulous instructions.

The poor pooch is so clearly unhappy with the experience that the intertitles are hardly necessary, though the occasional interjections of "Oh Lor'!" and "Do they think I'm a pudding?" must have had audiences rolling in the aisles.
