'Brighter Blackpool Beauties' in bathing costumes parade themselves by the poolside.

Show full synopsis

This entirely frivolous item from Topical Budget shows a line of bathing-costumed 'beauties' parading along the edge of an outdoor pool.

A wider shot of the pool show us slides into the water with a throng of mixed bathers playing below. A diver jumps off a high board into another pool on the other side of the Lido, and the film finishes on a close shot of three young women in the sea, laughing for the camera.

Aside from offering a no-doubt welcome free plug for the summer revue 'Brighter Blackpool' (whose cast provide the opening parade), this simple item shows us very little except contemporary swimwear fashions and the big art deco pool on Blackpool Pleasure Beach. All the same, it is extremely evocative of the age, and quintessentally 'Twenties'.
