The town of Lille, 1918, newly liberated from four years of German occupation.

British troops (the Fifth Army, Liverpool Irish and Lancashire troops) march through the town of Lille carrying French flags and flowers along with their guns. A second batch of troops is accompanied by young children. The crowd shouts "Vivent les anglais!".
