Synopsis

The first in a series of Ministry of Information "news magazine" compilations issued for screening in factory canteens etc.

Its various sections are as follows:

1. Explanation of a scheme to give essential war workers priority cards to avoid the problems (either of time lost or of food not obtained) caused by food shop queues.

2. An explanatory item on sand filters for tanks and other equipment in the desert war.

3. The American tug Narcissus, used in the shooting of the film Tugboat Annie, is now in Britain and as HMT Sabine is at constant readiness for marine rescue work, able to put to sea at five minutes notice.

4. The use of spider's thread for cross-hairs in optical gunsights.

5. A brass band, formed by the workers, plays in a factory canteen.
