Various stages in the production and transportation to the London market. By the side of a railway track, men dig up banana plant seedlings. The seedlings are taken to another part of the plantation by a number of workers and overseers to be planted. Two men using machetes clear the undergrowth by the side of the railway. Another two men, using a long-handled knife, cut down the bunches of green bananas, which are then loaded onto a small steam engine and taken to the railhead, where they are loaded into larger wagons for transportation to the port. Views of the plantations are taken from the front of a slowly moving train. The bunches of bananas are seen on a conveyor belt taking them on board a ship for the journey to Europe. In a crowded London street, a fruiterers shop presents a generous display of bananas.
