A caravan of bullock- and camel-drawn vehicles travel down a road in India, passing a Muslim hermitage. Handlers feed a herd of working elephants and bathe them in a river. Yogis sit on a wall by a roadside; an India raja travels on a litter with his entourage, including a dancing girl. A motorbus pulls up on the road to cool its engine, whilst men walk past with a palanquin carrying a shrouded Muslim woman. A man decorates his sheep with paint for Ramadan; animals are used to draw water from a well. During the midday rest period, travellers gather at a roadside village with entertainment provided by a snake charmer and a man with performing animals. After the siesta, the travellers return to the road.
