14th September 1957 and the final day of operation for Liverpool's tram service. View of Liverpool city centre with buses and cars exiting the Mersey Tunnel. At the Pier Head, people crowd around a Baby Grand tram which has a banner on the side reading '1897 - Liverpool's last tram - 1957.' The tram travels along its final route stopping to pick up passengers on the way.

Another green Baby Grand tram covered in flags waits at Pier Head as crowds gather around. A tram driver poses for the camera in front of the number 293. Crowds watch a procession of green trams decorated with flags as they leave Pier Head on their last journey, and as the last tram leaves the onlookers wave farewell.
