Watched by a crowd, a flower-decorated tram passes, sporting a sign reading Welcome to our brave generals'. A police officer sits on horseback beside two standing officers. The dignitaries arrive at an open-air platform. They leave the carriage and mount the platform.

Mounted police officers and colonial troops, followed by the carriage, travel down a crowd-lined and decorated street. The carriage bearing Kitchener and Roberts arrives, and they alight and mingle with guests.
