Synopsis

Warning: screenonline full synopses contain 'spoilers' which give away key plot points. Don't read on if you don't want to know the ending!

A group of boys trains in farmwork under the Boys' Farm Training (Migration) Scheme.

After departing from the Williamson Hostel run by the Liverpool Education Committee, they arrive by train at the port of embarkation. There, they are met by YMCA representatives and housed in a hostel. Each boy is provided with a new outfit, a money order, and papers from the YMCA Migration Board at Liverpool.

The liner 'Duchess of Bedford' prepares to sail to Canada. The boys embark, following a group photograph taken of them holding a banner headed 'YMCA Conducted Party of British Boys Under Care of the United Church of Canada'. They bid farewell to their relatives, and the liner leaves the harbour.
