View from St George's Hall looking down on crowds assembled on Lime Street and St George's Plateau. The cast iron supported glass facade of Lime Street Station is visible, and in the distance the Adelphi Hotel can be seen. Crowds seated on the steps of St George's Hall and outside the North Western Hotel on the other side of Lime Street observe decorated horses as they are paraded around the plateau. Trams are visible in the background turning left into London Road from Lime Street. The judges inspect horses in front of the North Western Hotel and Lime Street Station. The winning horse poses with his owner for the camera, with William Brown Street and the Wellington Monument visible in the background.
