Sir John Fagge arrives in Liverpool to collect his peerage.

Show full synopsis

The newsreels were not generally known for their radicalism, and tended to show an extreme deference to the upper classes. All the same, the ascendance of another minor aristocrat to his hereditary title was not usually considered worthy of attention. What evidently made this particular subject attractive to Topical Budget was the clash of status implied in its story of a handyman from a 'Massachusetts hamlet' arriving in Liverpool to collect his baronetcy. Whether Sir John Harry Lee Fagge remained in England is not recorded, although he seems to have enjoyed his title for just ten years before his death.
