A grasshopper tries to get all his fellow creatures to dance to his music, but the ant would rather stock up for the winter. When winter comes, who had the better idea?

Show full synopsis

Lotte Reiniger interpreted the moralistic tale of the cricket and the ant, which has been adapted time and again throughout the centuries, from her own point of view: "The tale ends with the triumph of the ant, and I didn't want that. The cricket is my favourite." Due to the silhouette film's aesthetics, she changed the stout cricket into a grasshopper. The result is a little masterpiece.
