During an unusually harsh winter, ships are frozen in the river Thames.

Show full synopsis

Britain's ninth coldest winter of the twentieth century (1963 tops the chart) is recorded here in the form of a series of shots of the hapless occupants of the trawler 'Warter Priory' attempting to scrape the snow off the deck and rigging by means of any tools to hand - mainly axes. It was filmed by the Thames, and Tower Bridge can be glimpsed in the distance.
