Show full synopsis

One of a couple of Mitchell and Kenyon films from Buxton, Derbyshire, the other being Buxton Well Dressing, shot much later in 1904. This is a bizarrely beautiful pan back and forth of the skyline of Buxton. It is one of the very few examples in the collection that does not show crowds of animated faces, but instead focuses purely on the architectural landscape. Another notable film of this type is Tram Ride into Halifax (1902) (Mitchell and Kenyon 614). One can imagine the swell of pride and joy that seeing this item would have brought to the locals of Buxton.
