Legislation concerning the licensing of pornographic cinema clubs

Main image of 1982 Cinematograph (Amendment) Act

The Cinematograph (Amendment) Act 1982 applied certain licensing requirements to pornographic cinema clubs.

Excluded from licensing were the activities of bona fide film societies and 'demonstrations' such as those used in shops, as well as exhibitions intended to provide information, education or instruction.

Requirements for licensing were consolidated in the Cinemas Act 1985.
