Show full synopsis

There were once many outdoor swimming pools in use around Scotland's coasts. Most, if not all, are now defunct. However there is good evidence here of how popular the tidal step rock swimming pool used to be. The local swimming club, which took its name from the pool, used to hold its galas here. It is striking how much hardier people were fifty years ago in comparison with todays holiday makers used to warmer Mediterranean seas.

Scottish Instructional Films was a one-man company based in the south side of Glasgow, which specialised in sport and instructional films. It also produced the 'Bonnie Scotland' series highlighting rural and historic Scotland.
