The tragic plight of the oysters in Whitstable, at the beginning of the oyster season.

Show full synopsis

The newsreel calendar meant that certain areas of the country could be guaranteed of a visit from the cameras. In this case, there was an 'r' in the month, so the Topical Budget cameras were naturally in Whitstable, Kent, for the oyster harvest. Such news stories reinforced the connection of such towns with a single activity, ignoring any other form of identity.
