Focusing on the entrance of the Queensbury Tunnel in Yorkshire, this short actuality observes trains entering and emerging from what was, at that time, the longest tunnel on the Great Northern Railway, stretching for more than one mile. Thick white smoke pours from the tunnel at the beginning of the film, as though on fire, yet a passenger train speeds incautiously towards it and is swallowed by the cloud. By merely observing all that enters and exits, and refusing to enter the tunnel itself, the film ultimately creates a sense of curiosity as to what exists within.
