One of a couple of Mitchell and Kenyon films from Buxton, Derbyshire (the other being Buxton Well Dressing, M&K 540-542, 1904), this is a strangely beautiful pan back and forth of the skyline of Buxton. It is one of the very few examples in the M & K collection that doesn't show crowds of animated faces, but instead focuses purely on the architectural landscape. Another notable film of this type is Tram Ride into Halifax (M&K 614, 1902). One can imagine the swell of pride and joy that Buxton residents must have felt on seeing this film.
