Although Cricket (c. 1901, possibly earlier) is of limited cinematic interest, it is nonetheless historically important for containing footage of two of the greatest England cricketers of the era, Dr. W(illiam) G(ilbert) Grace (1848-1915) and Kumar Shri Ranjitsinhji, known as Prince Ranji (1872-1933), who are seen practising their batting at the nets in contrasting style (Grace deliberate and methodical, Ranjitsinhji dashing and flamboyant). The film is also known by the rather more descriptive title W.G. Grace and Ranjitsinhji at Batting Practice. Michael Brooke
